31 Aug Faculty of Law Universitas Padjadjaran Orientation Program for 2020/2021 Academic Year
To start the new academic year of 2020/2021, the Faculty of Law held an orientation program (PMB) on Saturday, 29th August 2020. The procession was undertaken both online and offline. The offline PMB was attended by Head of the Faculty, Head and Senate Secretary and Head of Study Program at the 4th Floor Auditorium of Mochtar Kusumaatmadja Building in accordance with health protocols, whilst new students joined online through Zoom Meeting.
In her opening speech, the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Prof. Dr. An An Chandrawulan S.H., LL.M. expressed that the PMB for 2020/2021 academic year is held differently due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Nevertheless, this condition should not reduce the enthusiasm and excitement for everyone involved, especially new students joining the Faculty. Study methods Bachelor of Laws program will be held online while Magister and Doctorate programs will be held through a hybrid method involving online studies and offline studies with consideration to health protocols.
Vice Dean of the Faculty of Law, R.A. Gusman Catur Siswandi S.H., LL.M., Ph.D announced that this year, there are 567 new students joining the Faculty of Law. The number is accumulative of 20 students in the Doctorate Program (S3), 130 students in the Magister and Notary Programs (S2) and 417 students in the Bachelors Program (S1). The Bachelors of Law Program remains one of the highly sought-after law programs, with a very competitive acceptance rate. Through SNMPTN 82 students were accepted out of 1272 applicants, SBMPTN 170 students were accepted out of 3105 applicants, and through SMUP 165 students were accepted out of 2808 applicants. This is aligned with the vision of the Bachelors of Laws Study Program, to establish a law study program that is also a tool of social engineering which entails a high reputation and is renown both national and internationally in 2026. Further reports from the University, until the 29th of August 2020 323 Students have completed the re-registration process.
Furthermore, following reports from PMB carried out by Program Studies, SMUP for Magister and Doctorate programs are the following:
The Magister of Laws program for the 2020/2021 academic year had 69 applicants with 50 accepted into several specializations such as Criminal Law, International Law, Business Law, Intellectual Property law, Constitutional Law, and Health Law. With this increase of applicants and acceptances in the Magister of Laws Programs, the study program is expected to be able to maintain the quality and professionality of its alumni for the following years.
The Doctorate of Laws Program, represented by a Program Study Staff of Doctorate of Laws elaborated that this 2020/2021 academic year 22 applicants have fulfilled the selection process. Through the selection results 20 students have been accepted into the Doctorate of Laws Program.
PMB for the Magister of Notary program will be undertaken on Tuesday, 1st of September 2020. Through the report of applications, there are 95 applicants which have participated in the selection program with 80 newly accepted students.
The PMB in each program study within the Faculty of Law Universitas Padjadjaran is undertaken to ensure the flow of information in relation with study methods along with study and academic guidelines in Magister of Laws, Magister of Notary, and Doctorate of Laws Program, by each head of programs.
