Kemenko Kumham Imipas and FH Unpad Strengthen Legal Coordination Synergy in West Java

Bandung, May 26, 2026 — The Coordinating Ministry for Law, Human Rights, Immigration, and Corrections (Kemenko Kumham Imipas) strengthened its synergy with academia through a coordination and synchronization meeting with the Faculty of Law, Universitas Padjadjaran, held in Bandung on Tuesday (26/5/2026).

During the meeting, the Faculty of Law at Universitas Padjadjaran was represented by Imam Mulyana, S.H., M.H., Ph.D., Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and Research, along with his staff. Meanwhile, the Kemenko Kumham Imipas delegation was attended by Ramelan Supriadi, S.Sos., M.Si., Secretary of the Deputy for Legal Coordination, along with his staff.

The activity was carried out as part of efforts to strengthen collaboration among ministries/agencies, regional governments, academics, and related stakeholders in supporting the implementation of national legal policies. The forum also served as part of the mapping and optimization of cross-sector cooperation opportunities to support the follow-up of policy recommendations in the field of legal coordination.

During the discussion, the coordination forum addressed several strategic issues related to legal governance in West Java. These included the identification of cross-sector cooperation opportunities, strengthening inter-agency coordination and communication, and encouraging effective and sustainable synergy in programs and activities to reinforce legal coordination.

In addition, the discussion highlighted various challenges in implementing legal policies at the regional level, ranging from overlapping regulations and sectoral egos to the need for coordination forums capable of bridging communication among the central government, regional authorities, law enforcement agencies, and academics.

The involvement of academics was considered essential as partners in evidence-based policy development. Through this collaboration, the government expects to produce recommendations that are not only conceptual but also practical and capable of addressing cross-sector legal issues more effectively.

This activity also forms part of efforts to support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 on Quality Education and SDG 17 on Partnerships for the Goals.
